About Kathy

In addition to planning, writing, and producing content, I'll occasionally pop in to assist the administration team at the Creative Arts Workshop, a non-profit community art school here in New Haven, CT. In December 2022, I earned my Google certificates in Digital Marketing and E-Commerce and Project Management.

Prior to writing professionally, I spent 12 years working in the educational services industry as an administrator, instructor, and private tutor.I served in Assistant Director roles at C2 Education and Merieducation before starting my own firm, KLN Educational Services,

My educational background is in fine art. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Art in New Genres from the San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI).

The New Genres department's curriculum focused heavily on unorthodox conceptual art practices and the coursework placed significance on Critical Theory. Being introduced to French "new school" critical theorists like Fanon, Foucault, and Barthes at SFAI was my primer to non-fiction writing. As an undergraduate in art school, I was also given the opportunity to study linguistics at Harvard University under Prof. Andrew Nevins and this course had a profound effect on my understanding of languages, and their functions and form.

In 2020, I resumed my fine arts studio training by attending courses at the Art Students League of New York, learning contemporary watercolor landscape painting and oil painting. I consider myself an amateur classical guitarist, I've been playing for the last 7 years. Currently, I am studying under Joanna  Bajena.

I'm eccentric yet dedicated. Creative and analytical. I think my background enables me to be open and versatile in a number of diverse roles and projects.
